Statutory and mandatory training
Statutory and mandatory training for adult social care teams.
This page separates what the law requires from what your service requires to deliver safe, effective care. The right list depends on role, risk and the people supported.
Content reviewed: 9 July 2026. CQC framework guidance is changing during 2026; providers should check current CQC guidance before relying on framework detail.

Statutory is not the same as mandatory
Statutory training is required by law. Mandatory training is required by the employer, the provider's policies, contractual expectations or the risks in the service.
CQC does not publish a single fixed list for every adult social care service. Inspectors look at whether staff training is appropriate to role, service type and the people receiving care.
Competence evidence matters
A signed register and certificate are only part of the evidence picture. Managers should also be able to show supervision, observation, audit outcomes and action taken where staff need support.
Every Haverton session includes a competency framework that providers can adapt and use after training.

Frequently asked questions
Is there a single mandatory training list for CQC?
No. Training should be appropriate to the role, the service and the people supported. A care home, supported living service and domiciliary care agency may need different evidence.
Does Haverton Care Hub training guarantee CQC compliance?
No. Training can support competence, safer practice and better evidence, but it cannot guarantee compliance, a registration decision, a CQC rating or an inspection outcome.
Will staff receive a certificate?
Staff can receive a Haverton Care Hub certificate of attendance or completion where appropriate. A certificate is not the same as competence, so course materials include a competency framework the provider can use after training.
Can training be delivered remotely?
Many knowledge-based sessions can be delivered live online. Practical competence subjects, including moving and handling and basic life support, must be delivered in person unless the owner confirms an awarding-body model that permits another approach.
Can my organisation claim government funding for training?
Government funding may be available for certain eligible adult social care courses or qualifications, but reimbursement is not guaranteed. Employers should check the current scheme rules, eligibility, evidence requirements and deadlines before booking.
Is VAT added to Haverton training prices?
Haverton Care Limited is not currently registered for VAT, so no VAT is added to the prices shown. If the VAT position changes, future quotations and invoices may be updated in line with HMRC requirements.
Training strengthens your staff's competence and the quality of your evidence. It does not guarantee any CQC rating, registration decision or inspection outcome.
